Director of Counseling Services, Rhonda Mammen, will be retiring from Springfield Public Schools after 16 years. She has been an advocate for children and her work will continue to impact students even after she retires, including the addition of the Foundation for SPS mental health Back to School grant category!
What is one of your favorite memories throughout your time with SPS?
“My favorite part of this role is having the opportunity to mentor the new counselors. I also enjoy collaborating with all of the stakeholders – counselors, principals, district leaders, and community organizations to provide mental health support to our students and families.”
What is something you will miss about SPS?
“That’s a no brainer! I will miss the relationships with colleagues. SPS has a wonderful staff of education professionals who truly care about students!”
What advice would you like to share with those not retiring this year?
“Keep up the good work! Our students are going to need you more than ever as they recover from the challenges of the past year!”
