The Foundation for Springfield Public Schools recently named Nicole Bueno as the 2015 Linda Luke Librarian of the Year. Bueno is the librarian at Cherokee Middle School and will be honored at the 2015 Teacher Appreciation Banquet on Monday, April 20th.
Bill Powers, Principal at Cherokee said, “Nicole has taken a lead role in helping us redefine and reconfigure our library to a learning commons as we work to better serve our student’s needs. She always goes beyond the call to help in the classroom with technology and learning. She is very humble and so deserving of this honor”.
Bueno will receive an $800 cash award and the Cherokee library will receive a $200 cash award.
The Linda Luke Librarian of the Year Award was established in 1997 by the family and friends of the late Linda Luke, a librarian at Hickory Hills and Disney elementary schools at the time of her death.
