The Darr Family and the Darr Family Foundation (DFF) has been a longtime supporter of the Foundation for Springfield Schools. DFF was founded in 2002 to perpetuate a legacy of giving set forth by Mr. William H. Darr. Their mission is to “empower at-risk youth to overcome barriers to opportunity” as he believes that all children deserve the chance to succeed and be the best version of themselves.

DFF supports Springfield Public Schools and Foundation for Springfield Public Schools because they feel like it is the greatest opportunity to meaningfully impact the most children in our community. “Access to quality education is evidence-based determinant for life-long success as it truly influences every facet of life.”

In 2018, Board President Erin Danastasio and Executive Director, Heather Zoromski participated in our Grant Delivery Day at Pipkin Middle School. “The experience was incredibly eye opening as we were able to see first-hand how physically small classrooms are, and how creative teachers are at utilizing the space they have to create an amazing learning environment. Also, the teachers that received grant awards were so incredibly excited for funding, no matter how large or small the grant was. It was an amazing experience!”

When asked why they believe it is important for the community to support the Foundation for Springfield Public Schools they said, “It is so important for the community to support the Foundation for Springfield Public Schools as they touch the lives of almost every school-aged child in Springfield! They are working day in and day out to ensure that our teachers and students have the resources needed to ensure that every child has equitable educational opportunities and we are not aware of another district doing more in choice programming and innovative experience-based learning.”
