Abilities First, of Springfield, MO, is dedicated to ensuring that people with developmental disabilities can experience full inclusion where they live, learn, work, and play. They are a supporter of Mr. Nick’s Inclusive Playground at McBride Elementary because it is designed for all abilities, all together.
The playground was built in memory of Mr. Nick tragically passed away in 2018. Since then, the McBride community and the Hostler family set out to make Nick’s dream come true. “Nick had a gift,” said Lael Streight, McBride principal. “He saw the possibilities in all of us and then challenged us with questions to Do Better. Nick was a change maker. He had a gifted ability to connect to students and to change lives. He did that here at McBride, and in his honor, we hope to change lives with this playground.”
The playground is open to the public.
