Central High School’s current IB Diploma Program Coordinator Melissa Morgan will be retiring after 29 years with the district. Throughout her time with SPS, she has been a ELA teacher, ELA department head, and a drama teacher. Some of her favorite moments are from the plays and musicals that she directed. Another was the opportunity to raise her kids in the building where she taught and they later attended as students.

As an IB coordinator, she’s enjoyed the unique learning activities and trips with students and other teachers. “It is inspirational to spend time with intelligent, motivated, and kind young people who want to change the world for the better. I am grateful to have been a part of the CHS community and to have the opportunity to serve our students and families over many years, through many changes.”

One thing that she will miss about SPS is getting to work with hardworking, creative and caring colleagues who do their best for students and each other everyday. Before retiring she wanted to share one more tip with her colleagues, “Keep reinventing yourself. Every year is a fresh start not just for your students, but also for you.”
