The Foundation for Springfield Public Schools will team up with Kum & Go on Wednesday, April 23 for the fourth annual Gallons for Growth fundraiser. During the 24-hour fundraiser, Kum & Go will donate 3 cents for every gallon of gas sold in Springfield to the Foundation’s annual Back to School grant program.

By simply filling up your tank at any Kum & Go in Springfield you will be supporting over 25,000 students. Since its first year in 2010 this event has raised over $24,000 and helped support a number of classroom projects. “By partnering with Kum & Go the Foundation has been able to support many classrooms. We have been able to fund projects that placed updated technology in classrooms at Wanda Gray, provided books for Pipkin Middle School and supported the early childhood program at Shady Dell,” said Natalie Murdock, Development Director.

The Back to School program, which benefits from this event, awarded over $200,000 last September to schools across Springfield. The funds raised on April 23will benefit the 2014 Back to School program which is accepting applications from teachers now and will award funding in September.

“We are proud to support our customers, communities and schools in Springfield through the Gallons for Growth program,” said Kum & Go president and CEO Kyle J. Krause.  “This program raises awareness and funds for the Foundation for Springfield Public Schools and the important classroom projects they support.”

“Our programs would not be possible without the support of Kum & Go. This might be the easiest fundraiser we have all year. We all have to get fuel and knowing that we are supporting classrooms just makes it a little better,” said Murdock.

The Foundation for Springfield Public Schools provides support to the public school system through grants and scholarships. The Foundation currently manages over 200 funds which benefit schools and programs in a variety of ways.
