HHS New Home to Student-Run Volt Credit Union
Missouri’s first student-run credit union branch is officially open at Hillcrest. A ribbon-cutting ceremony marked its opening on May 2. The branch is just steps away from the cafeteria at Hillcrest This is a collaboration between Springfield Public Schools College and Career Readiness department and Volt Credit Union. It allows HHS students to gain real world work experience in the financial services industry while learning valuable financial literacy skills. Students who work there will develop a deeper understanding of how financial institutions operate, learn specific job skills, and be better prepared to manage their own financial wellness.
A Volt employee and Certified Financial Counselor will manage the branch and oversee student interns. The branch will operate during the school day and will only be available for use by Hillcrest students, faculty, and staff. Read full story HERE.
Hillcrest Hornets Fund
This fund provides opportunities for students in need to participate in school activities. It covers things like fees for art, debate, athletics, dual credit, and more! These opportunities enhance the students’ academic and extra-curricular activities.
