Meet Rhett Roberson: The Foundation’s New Board President Leading with Heart and History

The Foundation for Springfield Public Schools is honored to introduce Rhett Roberson as its new Board President. His roots in the district are extensive; while a proud Parkview High School graduate, he also attended Bingham, Campbell, Truman, Pleasant View, and Hillcrest. This broad experience gives him a unique perspective on the diverse community our schools serve.

Rhett’s path to leadership is deeply personal. Following the tragic loss of his brother, Devon Roberson, in 2013, his family chose to honor his legacy by creating a scholarship. Working with the Foundation, they established an award for a deserving Parkview High School senior in the choir department who demonstrates a deep passion for music. Rhett explained that the process of creating this tribute was so meaningful it inspired him to get more involved.

This heartfelt connection fuels his passion for the Foundation’s work. While scholarships are close to his heart, he believes the classroom grants are profoundly impactful. He finds it inspiring to hear teachers talk about what they are able to accomplish with grant funds and describes the experience as truly amazing and humbling.

Rhett shared, “It’s a no-brainer to me. Investing in our students IS investing in our community. Those students are the future business owners, leaders, parents, and teachers of Springfield. We have a responsibility to provide them with a path to success, and it’s in our community’s best interest to see them flourish right here. Personally, I’m cheering for the next generation!”

Reflecting on his time at Parkview, Rhett says his life’s trajectory was changed by his DECA advisor, Cindy Shannon, and her gift for building student confidence through hands-on learning. The experience left a lasting mark. “That’s the kind of impact a great teacher has,” Rhett explains. “Today, through the Foundation, I get to see how grants help current teachers do that same incredible work, creating quality environments that foster better learning for every student.”

As president, Rhett is dedicated to aligning the Foundation’s work with the district’s strategic plan, particularly in creating success-ready students and quality learning environments. He firmly believes that investing in students is an investment in the community and says he is cheering for the next generation.

Please join us in welcoming Rhett Roberson to his new role.
