The giving continues! Following the recent distribution of $206,000 in Back-to-School grants, the Foundation for Springfield Public Schools is thrilled to announce that an additional $88,222 in grants has been awarded for the 2025-2026 school year, thanks to your incredible generosity. This new round of funding is already being put to work on innovative projects that will directly impact students and educators across the district.
A major highlight of this grant cycle is the launch of our new Impact Grant program, designed to empower principals and assistant principals to address specific needs within their own school buildings. The response was overwhelming, showing the deep level of passion and creativity our school leaders possess.
Among the inaugural grants awarded, Mallory ECC received $12,011 to install new, inclusive playground equipment, ensuring over 200 students will have safe and accessible opportunities for motor skills development and social engagement. At Reed Middle School, a $4,668 grant will provide 12 real-time translator devices to remove language barriers for multilingual students and their families, fostering a more inclusive learning environment. Glendale High School will establish the “EmpowerHer Closet,” a new resource that provides young women with professional attire, empowering them to pursue future career opportunities with confidence.
“We are thrilled to invest in these incredible initiatives that will directly benefit students and educators across Springfield,” said Natalie Murdock, Executive Director of the Foundation for Springfield Public Schools. “The launch of our Impact Grants this year revealed a tremendous need at the school level. This is only possible because of our dedicated supporters who are passionate about bridging the gap so every student can achieve academic excellence. Thanks to our generous community, we can help bring these creative ideas to life.”
In addition to these targeted projects, your support also funds larger, district-wide initiatives. This year’s grants will help establish the first “Job Olympics” for special education students and provide critical supplies and mentorship for 150 new teachers entering the district.
From modern collaborative furniture at Hickory Hills to a brand-new greenhouse at the Brite Conservatory, your belief in our schools is bringing transformative ideas to life. Thank you for your commitment to bridging the gap and ensuring every student has the opportunity to achieve academic excellence.
