This project is a fundraiser to support our band program, allowing all students the opportunity to learn music and have the resources they need to do so successfully.
- Need Represented: We are wanting to help raise money for our band program. We try to keep our band fees as low as possible because many of our students cannot pay them. We have many different fundraisers throughout the year. Typically we will sell food and spirit wear at our football games, but we had limited opportunities this year due to our Varsity Football season getting cancelled.
We plan to use the funds to help support the students in the band program. We have many needs, but here are a few examples of what donations would go toward:
$5 buys 2 pairs of gloves for marching band students
$10 buys a student meal at a game or competition
$20 buys a pair of drumsticks
$40 buys a flag for a Cologuard member or a pair of mallets
$150 pays for an instrument repair
$300 pays for a truck rental for a performance - Academic Impact: This fundraiser will help raise the needed funds to support our band program. We believe that participating in a band program at this level encourages discipline, collaboration, and emotional regulation, while also boosting academic achievement through enhanced cognitive development, improved focus, and increased student engagement. Research consistently shows that music students outperform their peers in areas such as math, reading, and critical thinking. All students, regardless of social-economic status deserve the opportunity to learn music and have the resources they need to do so successfully.
- Student Population: Central High School is very diverse with a significant portion of the students qualifiying for free or reduced lunch. Our band program currently includes 120 students, 7th-12th grade, who represent the full spectrum of the students in the school.
