- Description:
The SPS Honor Choir is an annual event that happens in March. All SPS 5th graders are invited to audition. The top students are able to rehearse music and attend a clinic hosted at Parkview High School. There, we work with a clinician that specializes in working with younger choirs. The students get to rehearse for one day and put on a concert that evening. By donating to our project, you will help us pay for day of event snacks, cover fees for students that struggle financially, and help us save to pay another clinican to come next year.
- Need Represented: This will pay for the snacks for students and teachers participating, because it is a 6 hour day that we spend rehearsing and performing. It will, also, pay for students who could not afford their participation fees. In addition, it will help save money so that we can bring in amazing clinicians in future years.
- Academic Impact: This once a year opportunity is to stretch student's abilities in choir and fine arts. Students will further develop singing skills, work on sight reading, and collaborate with other student's to put on a one time performance. This will challenge students in their performance abilites and singing capabilites. They will be challenged more than in their regular music classes by using sheet music and singing in 2, sometimes 3, part harmony. In addition to building on music skills, students will have to work on time management in order to practice their music in their own time. This is for students that are interested in growing musically and pursuing choir in middle school and high school.
- Student Population: The student population is 10-20 students from all 36 elementary schools. This includes the populations of all 36 elementary schools.
