Celebrating 100 Years with the Central Kilties Drum and Bugle Corps

This year, the Central High School Kiltie Drum and Bugle Corps hit a historic milestone: their 100th year of operation. Thanks to your generosity, the Foundation for Springfield Public Schools was able to provide the vital equipment necessary to ensure this century-long legacy continues to thrive.

When we awarded this grant, our goal was to provide the resources for our students to compete and excel at the highest levels. The results have been nothing short of extraordinary. Beyond upgrading their gear, the Corps secured first place in every competition this season. More importantly, that excellence translated directly to the classroom, with 45% of members earning Honor Roll status and 100% of participants maintaining passing grades.

Reflecting on the impact of this support, Malea Johnson, 100th Majorette of the Kilties Drum and Bugle Corps (2026), shared: “The replacement of our worn drums has not merely been a refresh of our equipment but a revitalization of our corps’ spirit and a reinvestment in our success—academically, musically, and personally.”

This is the direct impact of your support. By investing in initiatives that champion academic and creative excellence, you help students find their rhythm, gain confidence, and reach their full potential. Whether on the field or in the classroom, our students are achieving new heights—and it is all made possible by you.
