The 2026 school year marks a historic milestone: the final elementary classes to walk the halls of the current Pershing Elementary building! 🏫✨

To honor this legacy, a special "Send Off 2026" celebration is being planned with bounce houses, dessert food trucks, and games for every student. Through the Pick-a-Project platform, 100% of every donation goes directly to the project.

💰 Goal: $3,000 🗓️ Deadline: May 5, 2026

In April 2023, an overwhelming 77.67% of Springfield voters approved a $220 million bond with no-tax rate increase to fund critical improvements. This investment is already transforming our district, including new construction for Pipkin and Reed middle schools, a major renovation of Pershing School, and the construction of vital storm shelters at Cowden, Holland, Mann, Pittman, Watkins, and Wilder Elementaries.

We are thrilled to announce Peter Lai and Jackie Fu as the Foundation for Springfield Public Schools’ Advocate for Education! 🏆

From Peter’s leadership as Board President during the challenges of the COVID era to Jackie’s 13 years of dedicated volunteering at Sequiota, Phelps, and Central, their impact on our district is immeasurable.

A vital part of their contribution is the establishment of the 來福 Lái Fú Fund for Phelps for Gifted Education. This endowment fund provides ongoing resources and support for academic projects through the Foundation’s grant programming. As past beneficiaries of the Gifted Program, Peter and Jackie created this fund to ensure future gifted students have the foundation they need to flourish to their maximum potential. 🌟

As they beautifully put it: “We believe strongly in supporting public education because it is one of the most powerful ways to strengthen a community and create opportunity for every child. Springfield Public Schools played a meaningful role in our family—our children were taught in SPS classrooms by dedicated teachers who challenged them, supported them, and helped shape who they are today. Public schools bring together students from all backgrounds and give them the foundation to learn, grow, and lead.
