The Foundation for Springfield Public Schools is thrilled to introduce our Board President-Elect, Bryant Young! A Director of Business Development at Insurors of the Ozarks and a proud third-generation insurance agent, Bryant brings a wealth of community leadership and a deep-seated passion for public education to his new role. Since joining the FSPS board in July 2023, he has been a dedicated advocate for our students and teachers.
Bryant’s connection to Springfield Public Schools is a multi-generational story. As a graduate of Glendale High School, the son of a former SPS teacher, and now the father of a daughter starting in the Early Childhood program, his roots in the district run deep. This personal investment is the driving force behind his service. “SPS is educating our community’s next generation of workforce and leaders,” Bryant shares. “I believe a thriving public-school system is the price tag for a successful community.”
He views the Foundation’s most critical role as bridging the gap between the district’s budget and the essential needs in our classrooms. Bryant is particularly passionate about the Foundation’s Back-to-School Grant program. “SPS teachers have transformative project ideas that directly impact and enrich the education of our community’s children,” he says. “I love that the Foundation for Springfield Public Schools gets to help make those ideas a reality.”
Reflecting on his own experience, Bryant fondly remembers his middle school band teacher, Liz Sauer, who treated students with respect and humor. It’s this kind of positive impact he hopes to foster for today’s students. His advice to them is to start building a healthy balance between academics, extracurriculars, and social life now, as it’s a skill that will serve them well in adulthood. We are grateful for Bryant’s leadership and his unwavering commitment to ensuring a bright future for every SPS student.
