- Description:
Students in the transitions course will prepare Thanksgiving baskets as a class project by utilizing Hillcrest Market on the Hill products. They will sort items, count correct amounts for family size, and assist with delivering to families when they come to the school to pick the baskets up.
- Need Represented: Nutritional needs of Hillcrest Families for the Thanksgiving Holiday.
- Academic Impact: Food helps with focus for the families in need while the actual classroom project helps the students with learning a trade, counting, organizing, and social skills.
- Student Population: Students on free/reduced lunch which is more than half the population of Hillcrest High School. Families struggling to make ends meet and would not typically have a thanksgiving meal due to the cost associated with the items.
