  • Description:

    5th grade Academy of Exploration students will use the engineering design process explore the transfer of energy from food through cooking and baking. Students will also explore the career of chef while learning about kitchen safety, personal hygiene, and economics.

  • Need Represented: The need for authentic learning experiences for students that is highly engaging and provides real-life skills while exploring a potential career path.
  • Academic Impact: This project will give 5th graders an authentic experience in the profession of a chef, while allowing students to explore cooking and baking through hands-on experiences including myriad engaging opportunities around the community.
  • Student Population: 50%+ of our students are free/reduced lunch, with 36 students total. 1 IEP. 7 students who identify as non-white.
