Help Our Teams Grow – Support Scholars Robotics

  • Description:

Our Scholars Robotics Team’s inaugural year in 2023-2024 hosted 7 students that won best Robot Design at the regional competition. In 2024-2025, we jumped to 20 students, and won Innovation Project with our Key Lime Pie Team and 4th place overall with our Banana Split team at the regional competition. Next year we are projected to have more students based on incoming student interest. We would like to purchase 4 new robots for our expanding team.

  • Need Represented: Our Scholars students have limited options for extracurricular activities - Robotics is a popular choice. It is inclusive for any 6th-8th grade Scholars student and gives them a chance to learn programming, practice teamwork, and develop ideas.
  • Academic Impact: Robotics Club provides a hands-on way to practice math and science skills, as well as teamwork and innovation. Problem-solving and perseverance come into play significantly, as well, as students have to adjust as needed when facing challenges.
  • Student Population: The Springfield Scholars Program is a full-time educational service for highly gifted students from across the SPS District in grades six through eight. This accelerated academic experience provides students with the opportunity to pursue areas of strength in a high school setting. Students enrolled in Scholars are taught by certified gifted faculty, as well as high school faculty, for high school credit. The Springfield Scholars Program is part of the services provided by the Springfield Public Schools Gifted Education Program.
