When teaching literacy in Wonder Years one of our goals is teaching students to remember details. A good way to do this is through story bracelets. Different colored beads represent characters/events of the story. These beads are strung on pipe cleaners. In looking at the bracelets students are able to retell stories.
- Need Represented: Literacy skills are taught and refined by using story telling bracelets. It helps them to recall details from the story. In addition, it helps to enhance communication through retelling stories to others.
- Academic Impact: This project will impact students by working on literacy skills such as recalling story details, as well as communication skills.
- Student Population: In the 3 classrooms there will be approximately 60 students of varying races, aged 4-5, with a variety of socio economic levels.
