Students from Study have been asked to lead the on-site service-learning project at the National Service-Learning Conference. We will also be giving a presentation at this conference. Students will be able to network with other students, learn about service-learning projects from across the United States and have the opportunity to share about our school and programs. This is an amazing opportunity for students and we are looking for funds to pay for the registration cost and cover hotel expenses for four students.
- Planned Use for Funds: Every penny donated will be helpful as we are raising all of the money to send students to this conference.
- Need Represented: This is a once-in-a-lifetime educational opportunity for our students. The service-learning conference will provide the students with educational and leadership experiences. They will also have the chance to represent their school at this national event.
- Academic Impact: They will have the chance to practice both ELA speaking and listening skills while learning from a variety of students and adults. Prior to the conference they will engage in writing and reading skills. They will also use a variety of skills from other classes as they prepare the on-site service-learning project including research skills.
- Student Population: Study serves a diverse group of 9th -12th grade students from all five high schools in Springfield. Students come to our school for a variety of reasons.
