- Description:
This Phonics, letters, number, and shapes carpet and ABC Carpet Squares will allow for increased movement in a variety of activities to facilitate cognitive development by increasing their attention to task and increasing concentration through movement in a variety of readiness skills, including but not limited to matching, identifying letters, sounds, letter/picture connections, identifying and matching numbers, shapes, colors, and 1:1 correspondence.
- Planned Use for Funds: The funds will be used to purchase the Phonics, letters, numbers, and shapes classroom carpet and ABC Carpet squares to engage students in active learning to increase task concentration, task attention while learning readiness and functional skills.
- Need Represented: Activities for Functional Skills students need incorporate a great amount of movement. This carpet and matching carpet squares will allow them to learn basic readiness skills while incorporating movement necessary for learning, cognitive development, and retention of skills.
- Academic Impact: This carpet will allow students to increase cognitive development by increasing their ability to concentrate, increase their attention to task, improving short and long-term memory and the ability to recall information by using movement activities to incorporate a variety of readiness skills, including but not limited to matching, identifying letters, sounds, letter/picture connections, identifying and matching numbers, shapes, colors, and 1:1 correspondence.
- Student Population: The student population consists of Functional Skills students in grades K-5 with a variety of disabilities.
