SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (Sept. 24, 2020) — The Foundation for Springfield Public Schools (FSPS) awards $152,330 to Springfield Public Schools in Back to School Grants.  Grants are submitted by educators district wide to receive additional support for their classrooms.

“We are honored to be able to contribute this significant amount to Springfield Public Schools. The needs of our community are even more prevalent given the current circumstances.”  Stephen Gintz, FSPS Board President. “We are extremely grateful for everyone’s generosity during this time and would like to thank our Individual Donors, Corporate Partners, the SPS Community and Foundation Staff for making these grants to improve the experiences and lives of students and teachers possible.”

Eighty grants were delivered to sites across the district early in the week by Executive Director Natalie Murdock and Development Director Tina Pham. “Grant Delivery Day normally includes a celebration at the Foundation for SPS offices, but this year everything is different. Just because it is different, did not stop us from celebrating our educators.” Executive Director Natalie Murdock.

The Back to School grant program is made possible by generous donations from community members, businesses and individuals. “The FSPS exists because we have so many community partners, and they make today possible! They are bringing a lot of joy to the lives of teachers and students today,” said Murdock

“Every day in classrooms across our district, the Foundation for Springfield Public Schools expands opportunities for our students and our educators,” said Dr. John Jungmann, superintendent of Springfield Public Schools. “The Foundation’s steadfast support is essential to ensuring our learning environments meet the needs of every learner. Today’s presentation of grants all across our district represents the incredible generosity of many donors. We want to express our sincere gratitude to each of them for making this significant investment possible.”
