Grant day at the Foundation for Springfield Public Schools is one of the best days of the year.  The Foundation delivered over 100 surprises to teachers and principals in Springfield Public Schools on Thursday through its annual Back to School grant program.  This year, the Foundation awarded $232,115.25 to over 40 schools and special programs in Springfield.
At a press conference on Thursday, Foundation board President, Dwayne Fulk, said, “Through the many donations to this program the Foundation was once again able to provide grant support to teachers and principals all across our district. The money awarded today will impact so many students.  This year grants were awarded in the categories of innovation, engagement, collaboration and Reading Roundup which help provide funding for a multitude of special needs and projects such as technology in the classroom, engineering, math, academic field trips and so much more.”
This program is made possible by generous donations from community members, businesses and individuals.  Foundation executive director, Natalie Murdock said, “The Back to School program is the heart and soul of the Foundation as it provides resources that make an impact on thousands of students across our district.  Through the financial support of so many generous donors, grant day is made possible.”  Since the Foundation’s inception over 20 years ago, it has provided classroom and school grants to teachers and principals.  The Back to School program has grown and evolved over the years and continues to impact so many teachers and students throughout the district.
On Thursday, over 100 projects were funded through the Back to School program.
